Keeping You In Stitches

Having spent most of Tuesday at Enchanted getting help with a baby/toddler hoodie that I have made before and apparently having lost a portion of my mind earlier in the day,  I thought I was on a roll.  Got the front done and the back done and yikes!  The split on the side was correct on one side and I couldn’t count correctly on the other side.

So tonight, I’ve spent the evening frogging it back to the beginning of where the splits are….let’s hope someone is in their right mind tomorrow at Panera, or it’s back to Enchanted I go tomorrow!

Went to Enchanted to knit today.  Felt good because I’ve been cooped up in the house too long! However, I got so relaxed and so sleepy; even left my knitting and checked all the new stuff in the shop; sat back down and thought if I don’t head home now, I’ll never be able to stay awake.

Relaxed is good; knitting with friends is even better!

Since I’ve hurt my knee, I’ve been stuck in “jail” since last Monday.  A wonderful friend, Diane, (we sort of wonder if in another life we might have been sisters!) was headed to Enchanted today and volunteered to take me after I sat Friday morning in Panera’s in tears because I hadn’t been able to get there for so long.

Honestly, I feel like a 15 yr. old kid who has to be driven every where – it’s like waiting for your drivers license.

We had a wonderful time there sitting and knitting – me with an ice bag on my knee.  I guess the older you get, the slower you bounce back.

Thanks RoLynn, Ashley and Diane for putting up with Chesterella today!  (I walk like Chester on Gunsmoke!)

I hope my daughter realizes how lucky she is!  I got a call from her as we were getting ready to go to Belize…”Mom, can you make a baby blanket for us really quick – it’s a boy and it’s already born”?  She does not knit and obviously thinks these things are whipped up quickly. LOL

So I decided what could be quicker than making an oversized washcloth as a baby blanket (receiving blanket size).  Yep, I know the ecru color and brighter blue aren’t what you think of when you think of a baby boy, but I tend to think outside of the box!  Just made different sized diagonal stripes – yes, it was vegetable knitting and I’ve decided that’s fine to do but not under a deadline.  I got so bored – I thought I’d never get to the center so I could start decreasing. LOL

I used Plymouth Yarn Jeannee in ecru and denim blue. It’s a dream to work with and very soft.

It’s done and here’s the picture!

Last Friday night hubby and I were getting ready to go out – trust me, it’s not like it was a “fun” going out, we were headed to Lowes.  As I turned, my knee went out on me.

My compassionate hubby says “Oh, suck it up, walk it off, you’re fine!”  After seeing stars and feeling sick to my stomach, I gingerly limped out the door.

Saturday, I played 18 holes of golf; Sunday I played 18 holes of golf but did notice that the last 6 holes, my knee was really bothering me when I tried to bend it.  However, the Bloody Mary’s kept me going.

Monday was the day from hell!  I could hardly get out of bed because it hurt so badly.  Immediately called the Dr. and of course had the x-rays taken and then the conversation was “you need to go see your  favorite bone surgeon – I think it’s a torn meniscus.

So I finally got in this morning (Thurs.).  Got a shot in my knee and have the most horrendous brace on me knee for support.  Seeing the bone doc again next Weds. morning to see how I’m doing.  He thinks it’s just a tendonitis problem but if it’s still sore next Weds. we’ll go the MRI route.

Then my wonderful friend and driver, Velma – oh yes, it’s the right leg, took me to the hairdresser’s because she was holding a new purse for me.  One of the women in there wondered what happened and I told her – 2 words – kinky sex!  It was so funny because you could have heard a pin drop!  And anyone that goes to a hairdresser knows, it’s never quiet in there.

I had a surprise trip to TX planned to visit a friend – leaving on Saturday; am canceling that trip because I couldn’t sit in an airplane with this stupid brace and because of hurricane Ike. I had set this up with her husband and it was going to be a surprise for Sandra – so I called her and told her what was going on – she’s visiting her mother near Little Rock and would be flying back home on Saturday and I was going to be there at the gate to greet her!  To make this long story shorter, it’s doubtful that she’ll make it home Saturday since Austin, TX is supposed to have 100 mile an hour winds.

So I’m having a pity party!!!

While sitting at the computer, I came upon this discovery regarding weight gain…..

…. a new study published in the Journal of Consumer Research may give viewers pause about all the death they’re routinely letting into their living rooms. Apparently, must-bleed-TV may just make you eat and shop more.

The article is referring to the Law & Order series, CSI, and all the other blood, guts, and killing shows.

I’m a fanatic of Law & Order and I don’t care how many times I view the same episode – I get giddy when I find out there’s a Law & Order marathon on!

However, now, I’ll try and see if I eat while watching or even shop while watching! LOL

A few summers ago I had a severe case of poison ivy requiring multiple shots and oral steroids – since I couldn’t sleep because of the itching, I would shop online – what else is there to do at 3 a.m.?  Yep, I bought lots and the credit card can show it!

I did mention to my Dr. that I couldn’t take anymore steroid shots or pills because it made me buy on ebay, his comment was “well, that could make you do things you wouldn’t ordinarily do, but I doubt it made you shop on ebay”….trust me, this turned into a heated conversation and guess what “I won!”  He finally relented and said “well, maybe it did”  – this is the part of the conversation hubby heard! LOL

  • Comments Off on For $25 you can help has changed the way you can now “loan” to help someone change their life!  Please consider doing this!!!

I’ve loaned a total of $225 – to 10 different people trying to make a difference in their life and their family. No, I didn’t loan it all at once but mainly in $25 increments.

They have now decided to let you be able to re-loan the money as it is re-paid.  (Before, you didn’t have access to it until the loan was completely paid off.)

I urge you to check out their website and consider helping in anyway you can.
