  Sofi getting stitches removed!

Nancy getting stitches removed.

Had bunion surgery on the right foot Nov. 2 – figured the left foot went so well, this one would too.  NOT!

I now know what they say when the pain is horrific!  Pain pills for 8 days, crutches for 7; lots of naps and just plain sitting in a chair with my leg/foot elevated.

And on top of this…the refrigerator died.  Of course, it took 5 days to convince “the man of the house” that it was dead.  Frozen food was soft and the stench of bad food….but it took him pouring some milk into a bowl of cereal and the milk was congealed to seal the deal!!!

Then the same day, Sedona, 75 lb. dog, decided to take a swipe at Sofi, 5 lb. dog.  This little interaction took place in the bedroom with “the man” present.  I’m chair-bound in the living room – he yelled to me that everything was OK, it was just noise.  He had Sofi in his arms.

Well, he put her down and she made a bee-line into the living room and my lap.  I immediately screamed “she’s not OK – the top of her head is bleeding!”

So “the man” grabs her and rushes her to the vet.  They kept her and called shortly afterwards to ask if it was OK to put her out to stitch it up. Gash was deep – all the way to the skull.

However, as of today both Sofi and I are stitch free!!!

Pictures in the next chapter!

By the way, Rebecca No. 32, must be a hot book – because the three shops we went to were out of it!  However, I found it easily on Jimmy Beans website – in fact, it’s already been shipped!

Deloris had the gang of knitters over for an evening of knitting.  We laughed, and knitted, and frogged, and laughed….and the best part, she had the most delicious chocolate pudding cake with ice cream!!!  There seems to be a theme when we get together….knit, laugh, eat!!!

Thanks to Deloris for hosting us…..we secretly wish she’d get rid of her husband so we could all move in with her!

Tuesday morning Cat and I headed to Nashville to visit Threaded Bliss and see and talk to Laurie Perry, author of Crazy Aunt Purl’s Drunk, Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair.  She was very personable and fun to talk too – I asked her to please autograph my book, and she politely told me that that’s what she was there for – not to shop…..as she put down several skeins of yarn to purchase!  We both agreed that we were purse junkies and she loved my new purse (not a knitted, felted, crocheted, or hand made one)!  She even took a picture of it, which sounds like something I would do!

Threaded Bliss  had a really neat shrug on display and after looking and looking, even tho’ their computer said they had the book, Rebecca No. 32  in stock, it was no where to be found.

So off we went to Haus of Yarn, which they were out of too…..

So off to Angel Hair Yarn and they were out of it too.  Although, in our conversation, they are going to start being open on Sunday’s for people to come in and just knit on socks.  Everyone’s sock stash is outta control….including moi! Won’t be a class so don’t think you’re going to get instruction. LOL

Actually, our little knitting group has found we’ve become better knitters because we can correct our mistakes without someone having to do it for us!  Or if we are in a real bind, one of us can usually figure it out!  YAY! for us!!!

sisterandbiker.jpgHere we have Sister Sally with Biker Babe (your author!) trying to convince Sister Sally to come to the other side!  I’m happy to say, anyone who knows Sally, knows that’s not the habit she’s used too!  I also might add, the Biker Babe won first prize for her costume!!!

dsc00554.jpgTo celebrate Halloween, the majority of the women in our Weds. morning bowling league dressed up.  Here we have the Dixie Chicks!

knitwit.jpgPat dressed as a Knit Wit!!!!   We tease her because the baby blanket around her shoulders has been a WIP for well over a year!!!

dsc00547.jpgVelma hosted a Witches Luncheon. What yummy food and fun – of course, there was knitting afterwards.  And lots and lots of talk and laughing!!!

dsc00543.jpgWhat a beautiful table Witch Velma had….right down to the rats!

dsc00544.jpgA bewitching time was had by all!!!!!

  • Yesterday was close to being successful….. May 7, 2013
Yesterday we tried to do the unthinkable – getting 3 things accomplished!  When we first moved to Costa Rica, we were “warned” that if we got one thing on our list accomplished, to think of that as a successful day. I had a dental appointment at 2:50 p.m. in Escazu; went smoothly except I have […]

  • Happy May Day! May 1, 2013
Back in the old country when I was but a wee lass……May Day, May 1st, was a great holiday.  We spent the week before May 1st making May Day baskets.  Then we would fill them with candy, spring flowers, etc. – on May 1st, you would deliver your May Day baskets, hang them on the […]

Some friends, Frances and Peggy, went to Nicaragua last week for a few days of R & R and to feed the street dogs and to put flea and tick stuff on them.  Frances has Animal Lighthouse Rescue in Atenas. When they returned, I got a text from her saying she brought home a Momma […]

  • Going to Goa? Go In Off Season and Save April 4, 2013
Our friends Bill and Sandy just returned from a humongous trip that included Singapore and India and Bali and Australia. Don’t know about you, but just thought of planning for such a long trip – they were gone for about 8-9 weeks!  I would have to plan now if I wanted to take my dream […]
